I use several approaches (field studies, laboratory experiments, next-generation sequencing, meta-analysis, and modeling) to determine how environmental change (e.g. warming, drought, and nitrogen deposition) and agricultural management (e.g. tillage and fertilization) affect soil carbon cycling and plant productivity in terrestrial ecosystems.
